2020 Victorian State Winner of the Little Scientists Early STEM Awards
Our Professor Lynn Corcoran Early Learning Centre: Froebel Parkville are proud Victorian State Winners of the 2020 Little Scientists Early STEM Awards.
The Kindergarten children and team submitted a fascinating STEM exploration project “Germs Are Not For Sharing” which emerged naturally during the COVID-19 pandemic and was an honest and accurate way to support children in making sense of their world and to minimise their anxiety or fear.
The parents and the wider community were very involved, donating equipment, resources and technical know-how and even arranging for the germs to be analysed in the research lab of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.

Learning Environments Australasia's Regional Awards 2015
Our Froebel Fitzroy North Early Learning Centre won the Learning Environments Australasia's Regional Awards 2015 in the category "Renovation/Modernisation over $2m".
Jury Citation:
“The Froebel Early Learning Centre in North Fitzroy shows a successful transformation of a two-storey former administration building within a constrained site into a vibrant and spatially complex place with excellent facilities for little children.
Froebel’s vision of a child-centred and play-based learning environment in unity with nature has been successfully interpreted in this project. The beautifully detailed two-storey play pod, the intimate nooks and raised platforms prove to be not only spatially and visually aesthetic, but also cleverly turn mere building regulations into fun and functional elements. The varieties of spaces provided create a colourful, warm and light filled atmosphere and are complemented by a natural and playful outdoor space.
The thorough implementation of environmental principles, the use of sustainable and natural materials and the thermal upgrade of the existing building all add to the holistic design approach of this project.
Congratulations to Steffen Welsch Architects on their highly inspiring, witty and child focussed design and thoughtfully detailed project.”
As a leader in innovating learning environments, Learning Environments Australasia's Regional Awards are open to registered members whose educational facilities’ projects demonstrate an effectiveness in the planning, design and construction of educational facilities across the region.
