Early Years Learning Framework
We use the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and - in Victoria additionally - the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF). Most parents are not all too familiar with the EYLF. In the following we want to introduce you to its five learning outcomes:
Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
Children:
- feel safe, secure and supported,
- develop autonomy, resilience and confidence,
- build a positive sense of self,
- learn to interact with others through care, empathy and respect.
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
Children:
- develop a sense of belonging within groups and communities,
- learn about rights, responsibilities and active participation,
- respond to diversity with respect,
- develop awareness of fairness and social responsibility,
- learn to care for the environment.
Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Children:
- build social and emotional wellbeing,
- develop increasing independence in caring for their health and physical wellbeing.
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
Children:
- develop curiosity, creativity, confidence and persistence,
- strengthen skills such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation and investigation,
- apply and adapt learning across different experiences,
- learn through connections with people, places, technologies and materials.
Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators
Children:
- communicate verbally and non-verbally for different purposes,
